Colin and Vicki re-opened the doors of the pub in February 2026 and together with Vicki’s sister Kate, we offer a warm welcome, delicious food and excellent service. We have a great selection of local beers and spirits, together with an excellent wine list.

Formerly a 16th century Smugglers Inn, the Parrot & Punchbowl Pub in Aldringham is situated approximately a mile and a half from Thorpeness and 3 miles from Aldeburgh.

The pub is steeped in history, being the oldest building in the parish of Aldringham-cum-Thorpe (it even gets a mention in the Doomsday book!). It has a long history of smuggling which continued until the late 18th Century and legend has it that there is a secret tunnel from the Pub all the way to Aldringham Church…
